Shirley Ann Bellew-Sims, age 77 of Navarre, Florida, went to her heavenly home on January 18, 2019, after an extended illness with CHF. Shirley has an amazing relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that kept her faith strong and gave her peace during her battle with heart disease.
Shirley was born to Oscar Levi and Vester Lou Bellew on May 9, 1941. She was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama, and was the oldest of nine children.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Oscar and Vester Bellew; her siblings, Patsy, Peggy and Judie; her husband, Claude Jr. Sims Sr. of 61 years; her daughters, Cheryl and Melissa Sims; and her great-grandson, Jeremiah Sims.
She is survived by her sons, Sidney Sims and wife Ann, Jay Sims and wife Guy, Joel Sims and wife Susan; her daughter, Michelle Sims-Jackson and husband Scot; her siblings, Mary Bellew Stanfield, Nancy Bellew Smith, Louise Bellew Propes, Ronald Bellew, and Earl Bellew; her grandchildren, Wendy Mills, Patrick Sims, Melanie Sims, Nathan (Scott) Sims, Josh Sims, Andrew (Drew) Jackson, Ivy Fields, Cody Cotten, Christopher Sims, Kevin Sims, Becka Simmons, Joseph Sims, Melissa Sims; great-grandchildren, Zoi, Jewlie, Kaiden, Broden, Aiden, Bentley, Madalynn, Kytaya, Caleb, Logan, Olivia, Michael, Sarah, Rebecca, Johnny, Levi, Lucas, Tristian, Peyton, Brooklynn, Liam, Ezrah, Isaiah, Luke and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Shirley attended Mary Esther Church of God for many years and served alongside her husband in the ministry.
She was a loving mother and a steadfast sister in Christ. Her belief in Jesus Christ's soon coming was evident in the words she spoke and in the life she lived. Her faithfulness and devotion shined bright, and she was a true witness for Jesus Christ to her family and all that she knew.
Shirley Bellew Sims will be missed here on earth, but she was welcomed home by Jesus Christ and her beloved husband Claude, whom she missed dearly.
A visitation and service to honor the life of Shirley will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Mary Esther Church of God located at 140 Green Drive Mary Esther, FL 32569.
The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM.
Following the service, a procession will depart to Rose Lawn Cemetery 2942 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563, where she will be entombed
Flowers will be accepted at the Church beginning at 8 am Thursday, January 24, 2019.
