Monica Mae Nolan

Mrs. Monica Moore Nolan passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the age of 81.

Monica is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 19 years, James Nolan of Gulf Breeze, her children, Kevin M. Cromwell of Pensacola and Susan L. Slaton (Robert) of McDonough, Georgia, her siblings, Russell Oakes of Syracuse, New York and Bernard Horak, Jr. of Yucipa,California, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Elaine Horak, daughter, Deborah M. Cromwell and great granddaughter, Taryn R. Newland.

Monica was born on July 1, 1938 in Long Island, N.Y. to Bernard and Elaine Horak. She graduated high school from Cathedral Academy, Syracuse, New York in 1956, the University of West Florida in 1983 with a Master’s degree in Communication Arts and from Wiltshire University in 2005 with a Doctorate of Philosophy degree.

Monica is best known throughout the community for her considerate and caring spirit. She took pride in being able to help others. Monica had a love for her family, friends, pets, dancing and music and was an accomplished pianist and writer.

A funeral is scheduled for Monday, October 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, with a reception to follow. Father John Kelly will officiate the ceremony.
