June Davis

JUNE CROFT DAVIS June passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on the evening of January 16, 2017. She will be remembered as a dedicated wife, caring mother, doting grandmother, loving sister, devoted friend, and eager volunteer. June was born in 1931 to Preston and Janie Croft and raised in a family of four children, an older sister, and two younger brothers. Growing up along the Gulf Coast, she spent much of her adolescence enjoying the beach life. In 1950, June met and married her husband of 60 years, Frank Davis, while both were working at Gulf Power Company. After raising their two children, Mike and Carol, and retiring, they traveled extensively around the country. In addition to those cherished vacations, June was always eager to help others and spent many years volunteering in the hospital auxiliary as well as assisting at the Vietnam Refugee Reception Camps in 1975 . She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed accompanying Frank to local craft shows displaying her paintings and his woodworking. After the birth of their granddaughter, Ayla, they settled in Navarre to be closer, enabling them to be extensively involved in her life. June was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Frank; her parents, Preston and Janie Croft; and her brother, David Croft. Left to cherish her memory is her son and daughter-in-law, John Michael and Patty Davis; her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Gene Freeman; her granddaughter and her husband, Ayla and James Fontaine; her grandson and his wife, Geoffrey and Khlena Freeman; her great granddaughter, Hannah Freeman; her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Bill Carroll; her brother, Preston Croft; and, her sister-in-law, Jackie Wallace; and many other family members and friends. The family wishes to thank Jade Nguyen for her companionship to mother, and to the staff of Watermark, Gulf Breeze, and Emerald Coast Hospice for their attention and care. A funeral procession will depart Rose Lawn Funeral Home, 2942 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, FL, at 1:15 p.m. SHARP on Friday, January 20, 2017, proceeding to Barrancas National Cemetary, NAS, Pensacola, for an intimate gathering.
