Gregory Lyle LaFon, age 76, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, was called home January 11, 2021.
He was born in Lubbock, Texas, on May 13, 1944, to the late Lt. Col. Lyle G. LaFon USAF (ret.) and Frances Jean LaFon. Greg’s father was a pilot (USAF), and this military upbringing enabled him to live in various places within the United States as well as far away locations in Asia and Europe.
Greg was a proud graduate of the University of West Florida, with a degree in Education. He retired from Beggs Vocational Center after 32 years of teaching Industrial Arts and Brick & Block Laying. He also built and remodeled homes as a Licensed General Contractor for more than 40 years, a sole proprietor of a business that shared his name. Greg was an avid outdoorsman that loved fishing and hunting. He was also an accomplished furniture woodworker, gardener, and farmer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Linda Jo LaFon; son, Rian Gregory (Luci Lowry) LaFon with their children, Landon Curtis LaFon and Jacob Lyle LaFon; son, Matthew Lyle (Stacy Muller) LaFon with their children, Evan Fredrick LaFon and Lauren Alyvia LaFon all of Gulf Breeze, FL; sister, Zantha Warth of Marine on St. Croix, MN; sister, Heather Rateldge of Atlanta, GA; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.
His family will have a private celebration of his life at Rose Lawn Cemetery, and will announce public services when conditions permit social gatherings.
