Virginia Mae Tirrill, 95, of Navarre, FL, and formerly of Canaan, NH, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at the Covenant Hospice Center in Pensacola, FL.
She was born in West Stewartstown on May 8, 1922, a daughter to the late Arthur and Laurel (Blakely) Condon.
Virginia lived in Canaan for most of her life. She loved attending Canaan Memorial High School, skating in the winter, running in the summer, and dancing to the sounds of big band music. Her main vocation was tending to her family, but she also worked at various jobs, including telephone switchboard operator, nurse's aide, and town librarian. She was very active in the Canaan Woman's Club and the United Methodist Women. Spare moments were filled with gardening and all forms of handicraft, and visiting with the ladies on Christian Hill.
Her memory will be treasured by her three children, Sandra Gray of St. Johnsbury, VT, Nancy Tirrill of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Linda Maksymuk and son-in-law Allen Maksymuk of Navarre, FL; as well as numerous grand- and great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry A. Tirrill, and one son, Willard Bruce Tibbetts.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, Oct. 30, 2017, from 6 to 8 PM at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH.
A funeral will be held the next morning, Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 10:30 AM at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook. Burial will immediately follow in the Canaan Village Cemetery.
