Virginia was born December 30, 1923, in New Boston, Ohio, to Zelma and Samuel Arthur and passed away on January 24, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. She had just celebrated her 87th birthday. Virginia was married to Kenneth W. Harper in July 1946 and they were preparing to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary when Ken passed away in 2010. They were blessed with two daughters, Jeanne (Mark) Weyburn of Cantonment, Florida and Phyllis Gross of Gulf Breeze, Florida. They have three grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Tripp of Lexington, Kentucky, Michael Gross of Gulf Breeze and Renee (Alex) Turner of Brooksville, Florida. In addition they have 6 great grand-children, Joshua, Emily, Crystal, Caitlin, Cameron and Corey. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters Lucille and Gladys, her brother Roger, and also her grandson Danny Malone. Virginia and Ken worked overseas for many years allowing them the opportunity to travel and experience many new countries and cultures before finally settling in Gulf Breeze. She was a blessing and encouragement wherever she went offering kindness and support to those around her. She believed that a kind word and a smile was something everyone could use more of in their daily lives and always looked for the best in everyone. When she became ill, she didn't fret or question why, but instead began to look forward to finishing her race so she could see Ken and her Lord and Savior in heaven. Virginia loved to sing, especially from her hymn book and I know she is singing at the top of her voice in the heavenly choir above. Our heart aches at the loss of our darling Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend but we rejoice in knowing that one day we will be re-united in Heaven. We would like to express our gratitude to Covenant Hospice staff and nurses who cared for and loved our mother. We could not have made this journey without their support and tender care not only for Mother but our entire family. Services will be on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 12:00 pm at Rose Lawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
