Tonda G. Mccray

Tonda Gay McCray, born August 11, 1951 in Whiteville, NC to Treva Coleman and Alice Bullard Coleman.
She graduated Ocala High School, in Ocala, Florida, Class of 1969.
At the age of eighteen, Tonda was adopted by Ernest Gay who had been the only father she had known since the tragic death of Treva in 1954.
Tonda being a Florida girl, always enjoyed being out on the water. Because of that love she found and fell in love with the, “Love of her Life” ,Danny L. McCray. They were married December 28,1975 and together they could do anything!
Tonda and Danny have two children, Kristina married to John M. Gormley and her Prince, Daniel “Skip” McCray Jr, both of which whom preside in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
Tonda believed in education and sharing her wisdom with the world. After perfecting Cosmetology and Interior Design she continued to pursue a higher education. She proudly attended Clemson University and graduated with cum lada status from Columbus State University with her Bachelor in Science in Sociology.
Tonda was an a graduate, an artist, a decorator, a designer, an animal whisperer, a social organizer, a gardner and a puzzle master. However, when asked what her Greatest Joy in life was she would not hesitate to say, “My Grandchildren!”
Lilli Elaine age 12, Kennedy Gene age 11, Daniel Lynn age 10, Quinn Hooks age 3 and Corrina Rose age 2.
These precious jewels were hands-down her favorite thing to do and her favorite people to be around. Their Meme will forever be remembered  by her grandchildren as the one that kept their parents in line and the one that never said, “No.”
Tonda was proceeded in death by her Father Treva, Mother Alice, Step-father Ernest and Brother (Micheal).
Tonda was diagnosed August 5, 2019 with stage 4 breast and bone cancer. She took her last breath 40 days later, finally pain free.
Thanks to her love for her Lord and Savior we hope to someday kneel with her at the feet of God.
She leaves behind Danny her Husband of 44 years. Her "greatest mark on this earth", her children; Daughter Kristina (John) & her Prince Skip. Her beloved Grandchildren, Lilli, Kennedy, Daniel, Quinn & Corrina.
The family would like to thank Covenant Care for the personalized comfort and care shown to Tonda in her last days. They would also like to thank friends and family for their continued support and prayers.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00pm in the chapel at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.
