Timothy "Tim" Ireland Meade 1960 - 2014 Timothy "Tim" Ireland Meade, 53, of Gulf Breeze, entered eternal life with the Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Born on August 22, 1960 in Plentywood, Montana to Donald and Nadine Meade, he graduated from Gulf Breeze High School in 1978 and Florida State University in December of 1982. A graduate of Cumberland Law School, Samford University class of 1986 and a member of the Florida Bar Association, Tim was the epitome of generosity, selflessness, and empathy in all aspects of his life. Known for his pro-bono work throughout the Panhandle community, he was also instrumental in ensuring the government honored its promise of TRICARE for life to military retirees. The class action lawsuit brought by the Day and Meade law firm in which Tim argued before the US Court of Appeals in D.C. was the catalyst that prompted Congress to enact legislation that guaranteed TRICARE medical insurance for life. Tim was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Elks. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Tim during his 53 years, among them: Frequent flyer miles, car repair, and FSU Football tickets are great trades for legal work. Hurricanes can take your house but never your home. ESPN Sports Center is the only "real" TV. Fishing is good for the soul. Go to the street corner on your way home from work and buy your homeless friends dinner. Help those in need, give to those who ask, love unconditionally, and remember people always come first. Tim's spirit is carried on by his wife, Janice, of 27years; his mother and father; sister, Pamela; brother, Shannon; niece, nephews, and grand-niece; and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. The family extends a special thanks to the Gulf Breeze Baptist Hospital medical team and Covenant Hospice of West Florida for their constant care and support during Tim's last days. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Sylvester's Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM with an open reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Graveside burial will be at 3:30 PM in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Gulf Breeze.
