Thomas Recker

Thomas M. Recker, of Navarre, Florida passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence in Pensacola. Florida. Thomas was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in in Howell, Michigan. Tom had an avid passion for boating and airplanes from a young age and took his first solo flight from Howell Airport at age 13. He served in the U. S. Air Force "Air Defense Command" with security clearance in Duluth, Minnesota from January 1962 to June of 1965 and was honorably discharged. Tom's career in the insurance and mortgage brokerage business took him from Toledo to Atlanta to Seattle to San Diego. He moved from San Diego to Navarre in 2000 where he was a mortgage broker and a Realtor with the Navarre Board of Realtors. Tom will be missed by his many friends and family who were entertained by the stories of his adventures. Memories of his light and humor will continue to shine within the hearts of everyone. Tom is survived by his wife Carol Brown; step-children, Kim Brown and Yognauth Singh, Ron Brown, Jr., and wife Darlene, Michael Brown and wife Jennifer, Janeen Mathes, Jennifer Lucerno, Richard Tolsdorf; brother Bobby Recker, and wife Marilyn, and special niece, Robin Boyer and husband Bill. Tom is also survived by by special stepgrandchilren, Mitchell Singh, and Julie Brown, and nieces Lori Pospiech, Michelle Lindsey, Wendy Haas and Jamie La Fontaine as well as cousins Michael Recker and wife Sue, Norma Recker and Judy Recker along with several great-nieces and nephews. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence, 10075 Hillview Road, Pensacola, Florida 32514, or to St. Sylvester Catholic Church Golden Girls, 6464 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf BReeze, Florida 32563. Viewing will be from 10am to 11am Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church Followed by a Mass at 11am. The funeral procession will leave from St. Sylvester Catholic Church with burial at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
