Suzanne Leaycraft

April 6, 1931 — November 21, 2013

Suzanne Berry Leaycraft, 82, a resident of Gulf Breeze Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at home. She was the wife of the late David L. Berry and more recently, the wife of the late John Leaycraft, of Gulf Breeze, FL. Born April 6th, 1931 in Paterson, New Jersey, Suzanne was the daughter of John C and Mary Insley Howell Lewis. She was a graduate of College High in Montclair, New Jersey. After marrying her high school sweetheart, David L. Berry, in 1952 she resided in Hanover NH, Arlington, VA, Jacksonville NC and Hopatcong NJ, before settling in Sparta, NJ in 1961. She taught equestrian riding skills to children of all ages in Sparta and Andover, New Jersey. Upon retiring in 1993, she moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida in 1997 to enjoy the sunshine and many rounds of golf. On a blind date, Suzanne fell in love with Jack Leaycraft and they were married in 2007. She loved playing cards, swimming, socializing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sister Nancy Eble of Homosassa, Florida and her Sister-In-Law, Victoria Berry of Palm City, FL. She is also survived by her children, Barbara & Peter Sundheim, David T. Berry, Susan Berry, Douglas & Anne Berry, Jeffrey & Jennifer Tome-Berry and Thomas & Jennifer Shackett Berry, and stepchildren David & Sue Leaycraft, Laura & Bill Bush and Susan & Tom Shirey and six nieces & nephews. Suzanne's 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren brought great joy to her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mayhew Program- a summer camp experience for New Hampshire boys at risk.
