Suellen Smith, 73, of Gulf Breeze, FL lost her battle with breast cancer on Friday, July 15th, 2022 at her home while in Hospice Care. Her memorial service will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home on Friday. July 22nd at 3:00 pm.
Suellen was born October 25, 1948 in Phoenix, AZ, she is predeceased by her parents, Retired Airforce Col. Croft Grantham, Jr. and Rebecca (Horton) Grantham of Alexandria, Virginia. She worked for the CIA for seven years before earning a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from George Mason University. After moving to Gulf Breeze, Florida from Northern Virginia in 1985, she earned a Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University and became a licensed counselor for Lakeview Center working primarily with troubled teens attending Holley Navarre Middle and High Schools. She loved her job and helped many people struggling with mental health issues until she retired in 2011. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, crafts, cooking for her family, and playing tennis with her best friends as a member of the Greater Pensacola Ladies Tennis Association.
Suellen's family was most important to her and is survived by her husband, Greg Smith; brother, Croft Grantham III and his wife Mija Grantham; daughter, Heather (Barrett) O'Connor and her husband Ed O'Connor; son, Adam Smith and wife Brandi (Knowles) Smith; and her six grandchildren, Hayden O'Connor, Erin O'Connor, Trevor Smith, Owen O'Connor, Allison Smith, and Anna Smith. She was loved and will be missed by many.
