Sidney Davis Timmons, "Olde Sarge", of Gulf Shores, Alabama, 87, passed away on October 28, 2011. Sid was the owner and founder of Olde Sarge's Outdoor South on 9th Avenue in Pensacola and operated the business from 1974 until 2002. He started in a small 800 square foot building as an Army Navy store and eventually opened a retail store over 10,000 square feet with camping equipment, canoes and kayaks. He was always planning and plotting with new ideas and new methods to accomplish his business goals. Sid proudly served with the US Army in the Pacific Theatre of World War II and supported the US Marines Corps on the Island of Iwo Jima. He was active in the First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores and also served for many years at the First Baptist Church in Gulf Breeze as deacon and teacher. Sid was a devoted Christian and inspired many with his unwavering faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, John V and Luna R, all his siblings Tommy, Jerry, Gerald and Earline Wilson and his beloved daughter, Debra Devlin. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Minton Timmons and their sons Sidney Davis "Dave" Timmons II and wife Margie and Dana Minton Timmons and wife Susanne. He loved all of his 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grand children. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 1, 10 AM at the First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze with services beginning at 11 am. The Reverend Earl Lee and Pastor Henry Willett will preside. His grandsons will serve as Pall Bearers. The family wishes to thank the heroes and angels that serve the US Veterans at the William F. Green Veteran's Home in Bay Minette, Alabama.
