Sidney Edwin Nelson, 84 of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away suddenly on Friday, March 16, 2012. He was a loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He attended The First Baptist Church in Pensacola, where he sang with the Sanctuary Choir and Singing Seniors. It was his privilege and joy to volunteer with The Samaritan Hands Ministry. Sidney and his beloved wife Perry Lee Duke Nelson shared 64 years of marriage after meeting in Pensacola while he served in the US Navy at Soffley Field. They raised their family in Cambridge, MN where they were members of The Oxford Baptist Church where his father Sidney B Nelson was Pastor. He volunteered for eighteen years as an EMT with The Cambridge Memorial Hospital Ambulance Corp. He was employed by the Minneapolis Star and Tribune Company for 37 years. Sidney is survived by his wife Perry, daughter Carolyn, son Perry Edwin, brother Donald Nelson and sisters Anne Kuske and Lois Becklin. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Pleitz Chapel at The First Baptist Church, in Pensacola, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flower please make donations to Samaritan Hands Ministry, 511 North Tarragona Street, Pensacola, FL 32501. Sidney's final resting place will be at the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
