Shirley Jean Wise (Trainor), passed away peacefully on March 17, 2018, in Pensacola, FL at the age of 76.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Floyd Wise; five children, Dana Wise, Darin Wise (Vanessa), Damon Wise (Janet), DeAnn Hammond (Michael) and Daryl Wise (Katie); brother, Danny Trainor (Linda); fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hughes and Margie Trainor and an infant sister, Margie Faye.
Shirley was born on September 19, 1941, in Tupelo, MS. Her family moved to Memphis, TN when she was a child and she met Floyd on the first day of 8th grade. They married in 1960. Her children remember her as a driven mother who instilled in them a love of God and a passion for music. She was an accomplished musician who served as a church pianist at churches in Tennessee and Florida and she taught music for many years.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Wallace Baptist Church, 6601 Chumuckla Hwy, Pace, FL 32571, followed by a service with Reverend Andrew Martin officiating. At 2:00 PM that afternoon family and friends will gather again for a brief service at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 2942 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Shirley's life. Pallbearers will be grandsons Alex Hammond, Jantzen Wise, Austin Wise, Jase Wise, Jacob Hammond, Trainor Wise and brother-in-law, Marty Thompson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in memory of Shirley be made to Wallace Baptist Church Building Fund, or to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church, 500 N Palafox St, Pensacola, FL 32501.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anna Fuller, Dr. John Sullivan and the rest of the staff at Baptist Hospital Pensacola as well as the tireless staff of Covenant Hospice at Sacred Heart for their wonderful care and amazing kindness.
