Shirley Theis

January 6, 1935 — December 31, 2018

Born January 6, 1935 in Weston, WV to Arphard and Mapel Dennison, Shirley May grew up as the middle child of five. She excelled in school in an effort to flee to the big city of Akron, OH and its job opportunities. She died at Covenant Hospice on December 31, 2018 in the presence of her son Steve, daughter-in-law Dori, and her husband.
She married young and had two sons, James J. and Stephen G. Likevich. The family moved to Dayton where she raised her children as a loving mother. She worked as a secretary at New York Life for 25 years and was well-loved by her co-workers and became the "go-to" person in the office. It was here that she met Steve and in 1976 they married. Their lives were filled with travel, boating, motorcycling and friends.
After 20 years in Dayton, they found their way to Gulf Breeze where she enjoyed her Gulf Coast Friends, bridge and golf. Shirley was a strong and independent woman, very loving, devoted friend, mother and wife. She is survived by her husband, two sons, her sister Star and many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Shirley's memory to Covenant Hospice.
