Sarah Lawson Hombroek, 84, of Gulf Breeze died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, P.S. Lawson; her mother, Semie B. Hill; sister Clara B. Thomaston, all of Birmingham, AL, and her husband of 28 years, Adrian B. Hombroek. Originally from Birmingham, AL, she came to Pensacola in 1957. She married Adrian B. Hombroek and his five children from Gulf Breeze in 1971 and resided in Gulf Breeze until her death. Most of her life she was employed in accounting and retired from Escambia County School District in 1990. She is survived by her much loved step-children and their families: daughter Becky Conroy of Marietta, GA; four sons, Al Hombroek and wife Beverly of Snellville, GA, Donald Hombroek and his wife Karen of Cumming, GA, Glenn Hombroek of Huntersville, NC, and Phillip Hombroek of Louisville, KY; a dear sister-in-law, Marie Tabb of Pensacola; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Sarah loved life and its challenges especially football ( a true gator ), baseball ( Braves and Wahoo fan ), Golf and gardening. She was a sustaining member of the Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary, Gulf Power Co Transformers, PJC Seniors, Gulf Isle Neighbors, Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, Tiger Point Ladies Golf Association, Sacred Heart Spirit, Baptist Golden Care and Baptist Health Care Foundation. Visitation beginning at 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church Chapel with a celebration of life service to follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ruth Knights officiating. Inurnment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery.
