Mrs. Sara Bell (Sally) Ward Prassel, age 91 years young and beloved by both friends and family, passed away peacefully at the Luverne Nursing Home in Luverne, Alabama on October 17, 2010, surrounded by her family. As evidenced by her many names, Sara, Sara Belle, "Sally", "Aunt Sara", "Aunt Sally", was many things to many people. To her father and mother, she was "Sara Belle". To her brothers and sisters, she was just "Sara". To the love of her life, Bruno, and her church where she was routinely present when able, she was "Sally". And to her many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, she was their dear "Aunt Sara" or "Aunt Sally" as well. Basically, Sara didn't care what you called her...as long as you called. She was born and raised around the Coffee County, Alabama area and was one of nine children born to the late Eldride Idus and Pearlie Leala Messick Ward. She was the beloved wife of the late William Bruno Prassel. Sara (Sally) is preceded in death by brothers, Travis, Kyser, Donald, and Jerry Ward, sisters, Era McLendon, Martha Ruth Smith, and Mary Helen Shepherd. Sara (Sally) will forever be remembered by her devoted brother, Eldride Idus Ward Jr., numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members. Sara (Sally) loved watching the University of Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves baseball games, listening to gospel music, singing in the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church Senior Adult Choir (Seniortones), laughing, travelling, being with her family, and having fun with friends. Sara (Sally) touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, from 9:00 - 10:00 am at the Rose Lawn Funeral Home, Hwy 98, Gulf Breeze, Florida. A graveside service conducted by her nephew, Rev. Chad Ward, is scheduled at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola Naval Air Station, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida, at 11:00AM. Burial will follow next to her beloved husband Bruno Prassel. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to the wonderful people who gave such wonderful care for Sara (Sally) in her time of need at Luverne Nursing Home, Hwy 331, Luverne, Alabama, (925) 555-1111, or the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Faripoint Dr., Gulf Breeze, Florida 32561. Rose Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
