Sara Paysinger Potts

October 1, 1930 – December 23, 2021

Sara Adeline Paysinger Potts, age 91, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Navarre Gardens Assisted Living, after a lengthy time of having dementia.

She was born in Giles County, TN, and graduated from Giles County High School in Pulaski, TN. On August 5, 1950, she married Sidney Frank Potts and they started life together in Columbia, TN. With Frank’s employer, Monsanto Chemical Company, they eventually made homes in Ohio, Texas, Idaho, North Carolina, Alabama and Florida. They had made Gulf Breeze their home since 1985.

Sara was a wonderful, loving mother and wife, establishing homes in seven states. In addition to being a fabulous homemaker, she passionately loved flowers and gardening. She never missed any practices or baseball games her sons played. She greatly enjoyed walks on the beach and discovering pretty ocean treasures. Her best buddies were her little dogs, having had one or two at a time since starting her own home.

She is survived by two sons, Sid Potts (Liz) of Shreveport, LA and Stan Potts of Pensacola Beach; a grandson, Bradley Potts of Shreveport, LA, who was her pride and joy; a special niece, Leesa Stevens of Columbia, TN, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 2003; parents Polly Hanna Williams Paysinger Thomas and Sidney Jackson Paysinger, as well as a brother, Leon Paysinger (Francis), and two sisters, Margaret McLean (Dutch) and Eleise Morrow Jones (Jimmy), all of TN

A private family service and burial will be held in the coming weeks.

Memorial remembrances may be made to a favorite local animal rescue organization: Amazing Grace, c/o: Paula Whiteamire, 4877 Cerny Rd. Pensacola, FL 32526.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Navarre Gardens for the exceptional care they gave to Sara as well as the wonderful service they provide for all of their residents.
