Sanford Stephens, Sr.

Sanford “Sandy” G. Stephens, Sr., 84, born July 8, 1931 in Ballston Spa, New York, passed away peacefully, July 2, 2016. Sandy was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Margaret Curtis Stephens and his grandson, Thomas Stephens. He is survived by his wife, Barbara C. Stephens of Gulf Breeze, his brother, Peter Stephens and wife Jane of Portland, Maine, his sons, Gray Stephens and wife Susan of Monroe, LA, Michael Stephens and wife Sherry of Monroe, LA, Curtis Stephens of Baton Rouge, LA, grandchildren, Anna Stephens Godfrey (Steven), John Stephens (Ashley), Katherine Stephens, Erin Stephens, James Michael Stephens, Katie Stephens, Rivers Stephens, three great-grandsons and his favorite canine companion, Savannah. Sandy grew up in Greenwich, NY attending schools in Greenwich, then graduated high school from Kent School in 1949. As a student and football athlete, he attended and graduated from Yale University in 1953. He was a member of DEKE Fraternity and the ROTC. Sandy was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After many years of working in the paper industry, travelling domestically and internationally, he retired to Pensacola, Florida along with his wife Barbara. Friends are invited to a visitation to celebrate Sandy’s life from 4 to 6 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 at Barbara and Sandy’s home, 2844 Napoli Way, Gulf Breeze.
