Samuel Powell

Samuel Aubrey Powell 1931-2010 Samuel Aubrey Powell, 78, of Navarre, FL passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at his home. He was born December 23, 1931 in Quitman, GA and after graduating Quitman High School entered the US Air Force. During his military career, he lived in Japan, Spain, Nebraska, North Dakota and Arizona. After 22 years of service, he retired and moved his family to Elizabethtown, KY where he worked for another 22 years as an Ophthalmology Technician. He retired a second time to Navarre in January, 1993. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Wrieth Powell. He was a much loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and "Billy" Powell both of Quitman. He is survived by sister, Mary Lee Miller of Bradenton, FL and Charlie Tom Powell (Rowena) of Stockbridge, GA. Samuel was the proud father of five children, Matthew James Powell (Pam) of Bristol, VA, Bradley Allen Powell of Ft. Smith, AR, Jonathan Henry Powell of Elizabethtown, KY, Jennifer Rae Philipps (Steve) of Evanston, IN, and Samuel Frederic Powell of Lindenhurst, NY. He was grandfather to Laura Sue Powell Glovier (Eric), Beth Marie Powell, Michael James Powell, Jonathan Derick Powell (Kara), Paige Elizabeth Powell, and Stephanie Brook Philipps and great-grandfather to Nalani, Naomi and Noah Powell and Addison Noelle Glovier. Fr. Joe Callipare officiated services at Barrancas National Cemetery where full military honors were rendered. Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, FL. entrusted with arrangements.
