Ruth Dinse Oxenham, age 98, of Gulf Breeze, FL, passed away on March 19, 2017, after a long and joyous life.
Born in Detroit on September 10, 1918, the daughter of George and Myrtle Dinse, Ruth grew up in Park Ridge, IL. She married her high-school sweetheart, Edward Henry Oxenham, in 1944, and together they had one son, Randolph, with whom she shared laughter until her final days. Ruth and her small family spent many happy years in Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico. In 1996, Ruth and Edward moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida, to spend their retirement years with their son and his family. Ruth enjoyed the theatre, playing bridge and, most of all, spending time with the people she loved. Ruth's boundless wisdom, wit and generosity of spirit brought smiles and happiness to all who knew her.
Surviving are her son, Randolph C. Oxenham and his wife Ninalyn of Gulf Breeze; her four grandchildren, Barbra Garbell of Gulf Breeze, Brian Oxenham and his wife, Melissa, of Roseville, CA, Gwendolyn Oxenham and her husband, Luke Boughen, of Dana Point, CA, and Nolan Oxenham of Sacramento, CA; and six great-grandchildren, Grace Garbell and Brian Garbell of Gulf Breeze, Jake Oxenham and Kate Oxenham of Roseville, CA, and Dane Boughen and Ellis Boughen of Dana Point, CA.
The visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 24th at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, FL. The funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Immediately following, there will be a small graveside service at the Barrancas National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Edward. At 4:00 p.m., a celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Randy's home at 421 Canterbury Lane in Gulf Breeze.
