Roy Andrews age 78, of Gulf Breeze died Wednesday, May 23, 2012. He was born in Derby, Connecticut on November 28, 1933 to William and Grace Andrews. Roy served in the US Army for twenty-two years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer W-4. He was awarded the: Combat Infantry Badge, Legion of Merit, Four Bronze Star Medals, (including two for combat heroism), three Air Medals (one for combat heroism) Meritorious Service Medal and three Army Commendation Medals. He served three combat tours, Korea and Vietnam. Roy worked for the US Civil Service for eighteen years as a GM 15, where he was awarded the Meritorious Civil Service Award, Superior Civilian Service Award and two Commanders Awards for Civilian Service. He also worked for Colonial Parking as the Director of Logistics. Roy served as a Life Master Mason, 32nd Degree, Shriner, an Elk, Twice Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. Roy was known best as the husband of Kathy, father of Roy II (deceased), Stephanie and Bob. Grandfather to: Roy III, Susan, Joshua, Jamie and Jonathan, great-grandchildren, Lillian and Roy IV. A time of visitation followed by a funeral service was previously held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, FL. Services in Falls Creek, VA will be held at the Advent Funeral Home, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Creek, VA from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 20, 2012. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery on August 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army in Roy's name.
