Ross Miller Dempsey, Sr was born on December 29, 1917 in New Brunswick, Canada. He moved to Boston at the age of six. Ross served as a Navy airship pilot during World War II and captained airships until 1960. He retired from the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He married June Frazier on June 5, 1943 at the Naval Air Station in Lakehurst, New Jersey. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June of 2008. Mr & Mrs Dempsey moved to New Jersey from Boston in 1955 where he worked as a civilian for the Air Force. In December of 1985 they moved to Pensacola, residing since that time, at Azalea Trace. Mr Dempsey is preceded in death by his parents, E Palmer and Ida Dempsey and his brother Welman Dempsey. He is survived by his wife June Dempsey; his sister Alice Dempsey; four children and spouses; Ross M Dempsey, Jr and wife Carol; Carol Tardiff and husband Morris; Richard Dempsey and wife Judy, Wayne Dempsey and wife Bella, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Azalea Trace on Saturday, February 28th at 10:30 AM.
