Ronald R. Gelinas, 79, of Navarre, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep at Bay Breeze Senior Living and Rehabilitation on January 25, 2023 after a period of declining health.
Ronald was born in Manchester NH on May 18, 1943, son of Jeannette (Sasseville) Gelinas and Joseph Adjutor Laurea Gelinas. He grew up in Manchester NH attending Central High School. He was an avid candlepin bowler, working at a local bowling alley full time while in high school as well as playing and competing in league bowling. After graduating high school in 1961 he enlisted in the United States Army and Reserves, proudly serving our country for 6 years.
He met the love of his life, Mary “Trudy” Cerami, and they married on June 5, 1965. They had two daughters, Lisa Marie and Tina Louise, who quickly stole his heart. He took pride in his family and home and enjoyed spending time together on family vacations.
He received his Associate in Business of Science Degree from Hesser College in 1977. He managed The Chat and Chew Restaurant at the Bedford Grove, was a finance officer in banking, and later became an entrepreneur opening and running two of his own businesses.
Ron and Trudy loved the beach and when empty nesters discovered Aruba, which became their favorite place to vacation together for many years. After loosing his wife of almost 35 years on February 25 2000, he discovered Navarre Florida where he relocated until his passing. He was an avid movie lover, loved spending time on the beach, meeting new people, and later in life going on motorcycle rides exploring Florida. He was one who enjoyed talking with anyone and would strike up a conversation almost anywhere he went. He will be remembered for his friendly smile, savvy financial advice, quick wit, and funny stories.
Ronald is predeceased by his parents Laurea and Jeannette; his love, Trudy; and his sister Gloria (Gelinas) Lamoureux.
Ronald leaves behind daughter Lisa Remington, of Goffstown NH; daughter Tina Brien and her husband, Christopher of Bedford NH; and sister Patti Winslow of Nashua NH. He leaves a legacy of 5 grandchildren Samuel, Joseph, Luke, Meghan, and Jake. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
There will be a wake or celebration of life at a later date.
