October 6, 1933 — August 30, 2009

Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather Bob was born in Roberdel, NC, on October 6, 1933, and graduated from Rockingham High School in Rockingham, NC. A Navy veteran, he served honorably onboard the USS Yorktown during the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service, Bob studied at East Carolina University, earning a BA in Business Management in 1957. What followed was a long and successful career in Textile Management, serving as Plant Manager with Burlington Industries, Vice-President of Manufacturing of Olympia Industries, and Assistant Plant Manager with Monsanto, retiring in 1993. A faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, Bob was also an avid golfer and a member of the Krewe of Lafitte and Karnival Kavaliers. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Suzanne, and his two sons: Mike and his wife Kim of Green Bay, WI, their sons Bobby and Matthew; and Mitch and his wife Darlene of Greenwood, SC, and their children Kirsten, Logan, and Bayne. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to convey heartfelt thanks to those who cared for him during his long illness, especially Dr. William A. Zimmern, Dr. Allen J. Patton, Dr. Nathan S. Floyd, and Dr. Daniel E. Ross; Granny Nannies and Covenant Hospice. We also greatly appreciate the kindness, love and invaluable support of all our dear friends during this trying time. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2 from 6-8 PM at Rose Lawn Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday at 11 AM at St Francis of Assisi in Gulf Breeze, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Burial will be at 3 PM at Rose Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi or Covenant Hospice. Rose Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
