Robert Stratford

LCDR (Ret) Robert "Bob" Stratford, 80, was born January 30, 1933 in Glendale, CA to Gifford and Bertha Stratford. He entered into eternal peace January 30, 2013 in Gulf Breeze, FL. Bob was a faithful husband, of 56 years, to Elise Barkemeyer Stratford and a loving father to David Brian Stratford and Deborah (Glen) Stratford Dinwiddie, Kenner, LA. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Christina (Andrew) Dinwiddie Swicegood and Gregory Allen Dinwiddie both of Kenner, LA., five nieces,three nephews, and a sister Joyce Stratford Grommons. Preceding Bob in his death are his parents, Gifford and Bertha, his sister Virginia (Edward) Stratford George and his brother Stanley (Carolyn) Albert Stratford. Bob began his military career in Pensacola, FL and ended it there 26 years later. Following his military career, Bob worked for USPA/IRA then as a home renovation specialist. Other interests include The Gulf Breeze Optimists, The ROMEOS and Kairos Prison Ministry. Bob was a long standing member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze Services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church with a visitation being held from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow. Private military honors will be presented at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:00 PM where he will be laid to rest. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bay Breeze Nursing & Retirement Center, Emerald Coast Hospice, Ginger Watson and Amy Purdue for their loving care and support. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Kairos Prison Ministry or to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church.
