Robert "Bob" Booman, of Gulf Breeze, died late Thursday evening, March 19, at his home. He was 82. Bob was born September 23, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late Allan and Hildur Booman, also of Brooklyn. Bob enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and served in WWII, receiving a Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Medal. He attended Cooper Union and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility at NAS Pensacola in 1995. Bob has been an active member of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church for over a decade and found the time to sing as a tenor in two of their choirs. He was also the Treasurer of the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library. He was a kind soul always willing to lend a helping hand and will be truly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Muriel, his daughter, Barbara Scott, son-in-law, Lt. Col Douglas Scott, USMC, and three beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Erin and Lily. Funeral Services will be held at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 26th. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM, service at 10:00 AM and burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library, PO Box 823, Gulf Breeze, FL 32562-0823.
