Richard Walter

Richard (Dick) L. Walter, age 76, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 30, 2021. He was born on March 29, 1945, in Binghamton, New York, to the late Lewis Walter and Grace Knight Walter. Dick was known for his love of golf and spending time with his family. He attended the University of Buffalo, where he graduated earning a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.

Dick worked as the Director of Facilities Management at General Electric, the University of Delaware, and the University of West Florida.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Knight and Lewis Walter, and step-son, Bruce Schmitz.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Walter; children, Erin Moore (William) of Holiday, FL and Bridget Handley (Jeffrey) of Pleasant Garden, NC; stepchildren, Lisa Cartwright of Lexington, KY, Marcus Schmitz (Karla) of Gulf Breeze, FL; step-grandchildren, Kimberly Cartwright, Chris Cartwright (Kaitlyn); and Michael Schmitz, Stephen (Sarah) Schmitz; and sister, Diane (Larry) Callahan of Ocala, FL.

Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, 2942 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563. A private interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery.
