Richard "Dick" Charles D'Aubin, a retired Eastern Air Lines Captain, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 after a long illness. He was 76 years old. Mr. D'Aubin, a native of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA, and a resident of Gulf Breeze, FL, was preceded in death by his parents Leo Grant and Annetta Layers D'Aubin, a sister Vivian Ullrich, a brother Leo G. D'Aubin, and another brother William G. D'Aubin, all of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his son, Richard Charles D'Aubin, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, his daughter Diane Lane D'Aubin of Broad Run, VA, his brother John L. (Cindy) D'Aubin of New Orleans, his two sisters Joyce Ellis of Baton Rouge, and Jean Champeau of Rosedale, CA, many nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends. After growing up in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Mr. D'Aubin attended LSU and was a USMC fighter pilot stationed at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, and Cherry Point, NC. After a four year tour of duty including a Mediterranean cruise, he joined Eastern Air Lines in 1959. He flew 30 years for Eastern and was based in Miami, New York City, Washington DC, and Atlanta. He retired to Gulf Breeze in 1989. He was a member of the local chapter of the Retired Pilot's Association. He was an avid reader and enjoyed following the stock market. He was also a loving and caring son, and a much loved father and brother who will be dearly missed. There will be a gathering of family and friends Wednesday February 4, 2009, 10:00 to 11:30 AM at the Garden of Memories Chapel, Metairie, LA. Funeral Services will follow at 11:30 AM. Entombment to follow the service at the Garden of Memories Mausoleum
