Richard Agostin

Richard Calvert Agostin, 81, died peacefully in Gulf Breeze, Florida on June 19 , 2011. Previously of Franklin County, Maine; Orleans Parish, Louisiana and Westchester County, New York, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, was a 32nd degree Mason, attended Columbia University and was commissioned in the U.S. Army in 1954. He continued in active duty and reserve status and retired as a Captain. As an aviator, he piloted various aircraft and served as a commercial helicopter pilot, working primarily for oil companies in the Gulf of Mexico, the jungles of New Guinea, and the Australian outback. He is remembered for his great story telling ability and mastery of foreign accents in the telling. He was a natural raconteur and life of the party. Captain Agostin is pre-deceased by one son and survived by four children, four grandchildren and his former wife. A memorial service will be held in the Autumn at Arlington National Cemetery.
