Reverend William T. Condren, a retired priest of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, died on November 3, 2009. Father Condren served as a Catholic priest for 36 years. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 24, 1930 to John E. and Mary Alice Hogan Condren. His studies include a B.A. in philosophy from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, CT, and a B.A. in theology from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Father Condren was ordained for the Diocese of Rockford in Illinois on August 23, 1973. He later was incardinated in the Diocese of Norwich in Connecticut, where he served at several Catholic parishes until moving to the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee in January 1984. He was incardinated on December 12, 1989 to the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee. His first assignment was at Holy Cross Parish, Chattahoochee, where he also served as chaplain at the Florida State Hospital. During his time in the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee he served at several parishes including St. Anne, Marianna; St. Francis of Assisi, Blountstown; and Corpus Christi, Destin. His last assignment before retiring was at St. Ann Parish in Gulf Breeze. Father Condren is survived by his brother, John E. Condren, nephew Robert and niece Mary, all of whom reside in Park Ridge, Illinois. The body will be received at St. Ann Catholic Church, Gulf Breeze on Tuesday, November 10th with visitation from 10 -11 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Most Reverend John H. Ricard, SSJ will be the principal celebrant. Priests of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee will concelebrate. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following Mass.
