Raymond Ward

Raymond Edward Ward passed away on August 19, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda, and their daughter, Lisa Ward, of Warrenton, VA. He is also survived by his sisters, Marion Truitt of Bel Air, MD, Francis French of Shrewsbury, PA, his brothers, Earl Ward of Allison Park, PA, Rick Snellinger of Baltimore, MD, and his step-father, Richard Snellinger of Glen Rock, PA. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marion Snellinger. Ray was born in Memphis, TN, and raised in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a business management degree. Ray served in the United States Marine Corps for 26 years, retiring from the HMX Presidential Helicopter Squadron at Quantico, VA in July, 1985. He then worked for Computer Science Corporation (CSC) in the Washington, D.C. area until his retirement in September, 2004, at which time he and his wife moved to Gulf Breeze, FL. Ray was a member of The Marine Corps League of Pensacola, and the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed being with his friends at Tiger Point Golf Club , and his fellow marines at the A.C. Read Golf Course aboard NAS Pensacola. We would like to thank Dr. Thomas Sunnenberg and his staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and the staff at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola for the care and support given to Ray. He was dearly loved by his family and friends, and will be truly missed by all who knew him. A visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 25, 2014 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504.
