Pinkney Smith

Bruce Smith, husband of Grace Smith and father to Greta Schrock and Dan Smith passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. He was a quiet man who loved his family, gardening and fishing. He worked tirelessly for his family and provided them with all the love and devotion any husband and father could possibly muster. He served in World War II as a B-29 tail gunner in the Pacific Theatre. He returned to meet and marry the one love of his life and to raise his family in Atlanta, Georgia. His love for the Gulf of Mexico and fishing these waters moved him to retire to Gulf Breeze where he and Grace lived and kept the garden. For over 61 years they lived life together and found happiness in the world and in the people they met. He will be missed by all who knew him and leave a void that no man can fill for his family. He will always survive in the memories of his wife and children. In lieu of flowers friends are asked to consider making a donation to Covenant Hospice, 5041 North 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504, in order to allow these fine people to continue to help families in their greatest time of need. Grace and her family wish to express their great appreciation for their assistance. Services will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze at 11:00 AM on April 22, 2011, with internment to follow thereafter. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Friends are invited to the Smith house afterwards to reflect and rejoice in a life well lived.
