Philip Rennie

February 19, 1924 — October 28, 2009

Philip Rennie, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 after a brief illness. "Phil" was born in Baltimore, Maryland to William and Minnie Rennie. Phil moved to Lady Lake, FL with his beloved Ina in 1996. After Ina passed away, Phil moved to Gulf Breeze, FL to live near his son, Michael. Phil served as a marine in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. For 15 years afterwards, he worked as a Master Engraver at Samuel Kirk & Sons in Baltimore. After leaving Samuel Kirk & Sons, Phil worked for the Maryland Army National Guard until his retirement in 1983. Phil was a lifelong member of the Masonic Order. Since living in Gulf Breeze, he was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, participating in the church's garden club, the "Lay Weeders". Phil was a very active resident of the Villas in Gulf Breeze and leaves behind special friends Nancy Goodman, Harry Engelhart and Program Director, Amy Read. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Minnie Rennie; his first wife, Beverly Carrick Rennie; his daughter, Rebecca Sue Rennie; his second wife, Ina Chenoweth Rennie and his sister Grace Evans, brothers Glenn and Bob Rennie. Survivors include his children, Michael Rennie (Diane), Jeff Chenoweth (Beth), Tom Chenoweth (Colleen) and Warren Chenoweth (Mary Ann): grandchildren Todd and Ryan Rennie, Greg & Kayla Chenoweth, Jaime Schuster, Lee & Sara Chenoweth and Stephen Giguere (Kat). A memorial Service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, Gulf Breeze on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. His cremains will be interred with those of Ina's in Reisterstown, Maryland on a date to be determined later. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shiner's Hospitals for Children at www.shrinershq.org, St. Francis of Assisi in Gulf Breeze, FL or All Saints Episcopal Church in Reisterstown, Maryland. The family would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff's of Gulf Breeze Hospital, Bay Breeze Rehabilitation Center and Maxim Health Care for the special care they gave to Phil during his time of need.
