Peggy Lay

Peggy Joan (Bishop) Lay of Gulf Breeze, Florida born December 3, 1935, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 due to complications from autoimmune related lung disease.  She was 87.  She was predeceased by her father, Beverly Clinton Bishop; her mother, Thelma Blanche Bishop; her sisters, Ruth, Paulett and Sue; her brothers, Howard and Tommy; and her loving husband, Roy.  She is survived by her children, Daughter, Kathy Naramore (David), Son, Gordon Lay, and Daughter, Beth Minor (Lee); along with 5 Grandchildren (Anthony, Allison, Benjamin, Lillie Kate and Esther); 9 Great Grandchildren (Breanna, Austin, Ansley, Camden, Naomi, Helen, Silas, Irene and Paul); 3 Great-Great Grandchildren (Sawyer, Adilyn and Layla).  She was greatly loved, admired and respected by all her family.  She will truly be missed.

Peggy was born December 3rd, 1935, in Kingsport, Tennessee, where she met her one and only true love, Roy Lay.  They were married June 6th, 1955.  They started their family and after a few years of relocating ended up in Gulf Breeze, FL in 1964 where they lived until their deaths.

You may remember Peggy from her 35 years of working for Gayfers at Cordova Mall in the carpets and lamp department.  She enjoyed her time there, except for those early morning warehouse sales, not a big fan.  For many years she has been an active member at Gulf Breeze Church of Christ where she was a friend to all.

A memorial service will be held on January 28th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Gulf Breeze Church of Christ in Gulf Breeze, FL.  A time of visitation and fellowship with the family will begin one hour prior to the service.
