Orville Chapin

November 11, 1945 — February 12, 2013

Orville Lee Chapin, 67 of Pensacola Beach, passed away Tuesday morning. He is survived by his wife Bobbie, his sister Bonnie Webb and her husband Ray of West Plains, Missouri, his sister Joyce and her husband Herb of Boliver, Missouri, and his brother Harry and his wife Julie of Ozark, Missouri. In addition, he is survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Norma Chapin. A graduate of Southwest Missouri State, Lee went on to earn his law degree at John Marshall School of Law in Atlanta. He practiced in Georgia and was known as a weekend husband because he would be in Atlanta during the week and come back to the beach he loved on Friday evenings. He always made stops at his favorite haunts to check up on his buddies and give them a "hard time" whenever possible. He loved to laugh and never tired of being with friends and family so dear to him. Lee was proud to have served as captain in the Army and enjoyed sharing his stories of flying in the military. His love of aviation carried over to his civilian life, a hobby he shared with Bobbie. He also enjoyed tinkering with his tools and fixing things. Some of his happiest times, though never ending, and often frustrating, involved working on the tractor at the family farm in Missouri. A diehard Georgia Bulldog fan, he was at the computer quite often to see what was going on in Athens, and his biggest topic of conversation on a daily basis was recruitment and blunders of the players, also a continuous thorn in his side. Lee Chapin shall be missed by all. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Friday, February 15, 2013 at Pensacola Beach Community Church followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM.
