Norma Gschwind

Norma Jean Windham Gschwind passed away at 8:30 am 20 July 2011, in her home in Gulf Breeze, Florida surrounded by her family. Originally from Ripley, MS, she is survived by her husband James; sisters, Hermie, Eula, Scottie, her brother, William (LC) of Tippah County, MS, Kaye of Birmingham, AL; children, Michael and Bradley Mitchell of Florissant, MO, Vanessa Justice and her husband Richard (USN)of Norfolk, VA; James J, Gschwind of Kaneohe Bay, HI; grandchildren, Autumn Mitchell of Florissant, MO, Dravin Mitchell of Indianna, Dominic, Donovan, Daedrian, Micah, Rian and Ciara Justice of Norfolk, VA and Cameron Murdoch of Kennewich, WA. She has lived in this area for almost 20 years and comes from a proud line of Windham family ancestors. She is distantly related to the Windsors, Howards and Marshalls of Norfolk, Suffolk, Nottingham England through marriage by her ancestor Sir John Windham to Margaret Howard daughter of the 1st Duke of Norfolk, Sir John Howard in the approximate 1450's after he was knighted on the field of battle by the Black Knight. Her anscestors include Colonel Daniel Boone and Thomas Wyndham who was a famous pirate of the mid 1500'sand Charles and David Windham who sesrved in the South Carolina House of Burgess during the American Revolution, as well as Sir John Windham of Englans who was known for writing the science fiction classic "Day of the Triffids" as well as two punlished volumes of the Windham family history prior to 1950. She was a member of the Auziliary for the American Legion posts in Navarre and Gulf Breeze and VFW in Gulf Breeze.
