Nicholas Hutchings, Jr.

Pensacola

 

Nicholas Alvarez Hutchings, Jr., 90, of Pensacola passed away on June 12, 2023, where his daughter was by his side.  He started life early while his mother visited family in Panama City but Pensacola was his home.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Patricia Heaton Hutchings, his father, Nicholas Alvarez Hutchings, Sr., mother, Virginia Webb Champ, sister, Alice Cates.

He is survived by his daughter, Glenna Hutchings Smith, son-in-law Scott Smith, grand children, Amanda Mueller and Courtney Scurto, great grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Nicolai, Lola, Leo and Lorelei.

After his tour with the Navy, he went to work for Chemstrand in 1954 and retired after 34 years in 1988.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola where he was loved and loved his Savior.

In lieu of flowers, please pay it forward with kindness.  He often would buy children he saw in a store a toy, a book and even a fishing rod.  He always had candy in his pocket to share.  His smile told his life story.

Thank you to the many people who lovingly cared for him, Emerald Coast Hospice, Brookdale Assisted Living and his church family at First Presbyterian Church.

 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 15th at 2:30 pm at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.  Friends and family are welcome.
