Muriel Booman, of Gulf Breeze, died early Monday morning, April 27. She was 82. Muriel was born in the Bronx, NY and was the daughter of the late Andolph and Mildred Weeks of Sweden and sister of the late Doris Telhaug, of Dumont, NJ. Muriel graduated from Jamaica Evening High School in 1947 and started working at New York Life performing administrative duties. She was working at General Fire and Casualty Company when she married the love of her life that she knew since she was 8 years old, the late Bob Booman. They were married for 53 years. When it was time for children, Muriel decided to stay home to be there for their daughter, Barbara. Muriel was a very loving and caring wife and mother always taking care of things at home. Years ago, she had been a member of the Hoe and Hum Garden Club. Her love of nature and animals was always evident. Muriel was also an active member of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church and tried to remain so even after her mobility had become limited. Her generous soul will be truly missed. Muriel is survived by her daughter, Barbara Scott, son-in-law, LtCol Douglas Scott, USMC and three beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Erin and Lily. Funeral Services will be held at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 30, 2009. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, service at 10:30 AM and burial at Barrancas National Cemetery at 11:45 AM. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to City of Gulf Breeze Parks & Recreation Dept, in memory of Muriel Booman, 1070 Shoreline Dr, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561 for trees to be planted in her name, or to the Humane Society of Pensacola at www.humanesocietyofpensacola.org.
