MSGT. Phillip "Phil" Vincent Roy, USAF (ret.) of Navarre, Fl., passed away on April 16, 2021. Phillip was born in Whitefield, New Hampshire, on December 20, 1935, to Cleo and Dorothy (Dolly) Roy. Phil married Norma Wagster – Martin in 1956 and adopted her two children, Cara Roy and Dianna Roy(Deceased).
Phillip joined the United States Air Force in 1954 and served stateside, Iceland, and Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star. During most of his service time, his duties were to notify the next of kin of fatalities of active-duty military personnel. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service, ending his military career at Eglin Air Force Base. After retirement, he became a realtor and broker, owning his own business for most of those years. On June 18, 2010, he married Frankie Reynolds and resided in Navarre, Fl.
Phil belonged to the Ft. Walton Beach Racket Club and loved playing tennis twice a week before developing Parkinson's Disease. He also enjoyed golf and played often. He loved rooting for all of his favorite football and baseball teams, with Notre Dame as his favorite college football team and The Atlanta Braves as his #1 baseball team.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joan Roy, Perry Roy, Gary Roy, and Dennis Roy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frankie Roy; her sons, Eric Baker, Mark Baker, and Stephen Benton; daughter, Cara Roy; brother, Reggie Roy; and a host of family and friends.
The family invites family and friends to A Celebration of Life at the family's home in Navarre on Tuesday, April 20, starting at 5:30 pm.
The funeral cortege will line up at 1:45 pm on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Olive Baptist Church – Warrington Campus, 103 W. Winthrop Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32507, and will depart at 2:00 pm sharp. The graveside service will commence at 2:30 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery (Shelter- B).
