Maud Patterson

July 20, 1938 — October 19, 2022

Maud Yvonne Patterson, a resident of Chatom, Alabama for the last 61 years, passed away on 19 October 2022 in Gulf Breeze, Florida.  A native of Gothenburg, Sweden, she became a U.S. citizen in 1962.

Maud was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Herman Charles Patterson, and survived by three sons and their wives; Scott Henry Patterson (Kimberley) residing in Gulf Breeze, FL, Bruce Charles Patterson (Carmen) residing in Niceville, FL, Eric Andrew Patterson (Iris) residing in Gulf Breeze, FL, and former daughter-in-law Daphne Hill, eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

A homemaker, Maud also served for many years as a dedicated volunteer for the Washington County Public Library.   She was a former member of the Washington County Library Board, and a member of Friends of the Library.  She was a board member of the Ballet and Theatre Arts Performing Companies in Gilbertown, AL and a member of the Scandinavian Auxiliar of the Norwegian Seamen’s Church.

A friend of the Chatom United Methodist Church, she was a member of Congregation Sha’arai Shomayim, Springhill Avenue Temple, Mobile, AL and a member of its Sisterhood.

A Graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Chatom United Methodist Church, Washington County Library, or Congregation Sha’arai Shomayim, Springhill Avenue Temple, Mobile.
