Matthew James Boolos, 31, passed away on January 30, 2025 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born November 16, 1993 (St. Matthew's Day) in Escondido, California. Matthew spent most of his life in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where he graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in 2012. Matthew served as a Corps Commander in the FWBHS Junior ROTC program. He was selected to sing in the Florida All-State Choir five times throughout his educational career.
Matthew was always passionate about aviation, and he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Unmanned Aircraft Systems from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2018. After college, he was employed as a drone pilot, drone project coordinator and then achieved his Project Management Professional certification. He was an active member of Saints Markella and Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, where he served at the altar and sang in the church choir.
Matthew loved all things related to flight, whether that was flying a plane or a drone, or photographing planes and birds mid-air. He also enjoyed working on his car and playing video games with his friends. Matthew was always kind and hard-working, and he put his all into his career, his family and his friends.
Survivors include his parents, Victoria and Timothy Boolos, and his sister, Maria Herrmann.
