Mary Nash

March 12, 1940 — June 6, 2016

Mary Louise ("Mary Lou") Kemble Ton Nash, owner of Mary Lou's Models, passed away quietly on June 6, 2016 following a long-term illness. She was 76. Mary Lou was born on March 12, 1940 to Cecil and Doris Kemble in San Antonio, Texas. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, William Nash. She is survived by her children, Tracy Ton Conerly (Lamar) of Destin, FL and Ritchard Ton (Chan) of Navarre, FL; her beloved grandchildren, Jesse Ton (Amanda), Zachery Ton, Emily Ton, and Ethan Conerly; her brother, Charles Kemble (Peggy), of Universal City, Texas; and her nephew, Kenneth Kemble (Donetia), of Uvalde, Texas. Mary Lou was raised in Orange, Texas. After marrying James Ton in 1959, she moved to his hometown of New Orleans, LA. Mary Lou worked as a fashion model in New Orleans for ten years. When the family moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1978, she started her modeling school and agency, Mary Lou's Models. She was an integral part of the raising and development of her grandchildren while sole proprietor of an internationally recognized model and talent agency. She also loved to garden and spend time at the beach with her husband and family. Her business touched the lives of many people from Pensacola to Panama City who were either interested in self-improvement or wanted to model professionally. Mary Lou developed a reputation amongst international modeling agencies for finding beautiful talent, and she cared for her models like they were her own children. While she had much success promoting her models internationally, her true love was personally teaching her students self-esteem through her modeling techniques and to build confidence within them. She also placed many of her models in local work, including catalog shoots for Pottery Barn, American Girl, and Land’s End. She ran her modeling school and agency for 32 years, until 2010. She imparted her joyous spirit and love for life to all she met. Mary Lou never met a stranger. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, FL, with an 11 AM funeral service. Burial will immediately follow the service in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
