Audrey G. Matern, age 99, of Gulf Breeze, FL. was called home on January 21, 2021, at the Beehive Nursing Home in Gulf Breeze. On May 6, 1921, Audrey was born in Baton Rouge, LA, to the late Jacob and Mammie Quine Gore. She was a proud graduate of Baton Rouge High School and Baton Rouge Business School. After school, she worked as a secretary for many years. Audrey was an avid swimmer and loved to water ski. In her free time, she loved sewing, dancing, cooking sweets, and traveling. Audrey assisted in building three homes, including a camp on the Amite River.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Willis Gore.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Eddleman Hunt of Gulf Breeze, Fl.; son, Larry Rogers of Baton Rouge, LA; grandson, Bryan Hunt of Pensacola, Fl and Taylor Hunt of Sugarloaf Key, Fl, Jeff Rogers of Delaware, OH and David Rogers of Mount Juliet, TN; granddaughter, Kathryn Oubre of Covington, LA and nine great-grandchildren.
Her family will have a private celebration of her life and will announce public services when conditions permit social gatherings. The private committal service will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Baton Rouge, LA.
