Mary Bookout

Mary Jo Bookout, 73, of Pensacola Beach, passed away on September 30, 2009. Mary Jo was born June 26, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN, to Ruth and Edward Kennedy. Mary Jo also resided in Green Bay, WI and Troy, MI before moving to Florida. Mary Jo is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dave, 3 brothers and a sister. She was the nucleus of her family and a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to her 5 children and 12 grandchildren. She is survived by her children Patti (Pat) Calhoun, Teri Hayes, Dr. Chris (Renee) Bookout, Dr. Jamie (Jill) Bookout, Missy (Paul) Gilbert, and her grandchildren Katie, Sean and Michael Calhoun, Jaime and Kelly Hayes, Haley, Nick and Maddie Bookout, Erin, Molly and Ryan Bookout, Lily Gilbert, her sister Pat (Arch) Archer and brother Bob (Joan) Kennedy, sister-in-law Pat Seketa, many nieces and nephews, and special friends. Mary Jo was involved in the community through her volunteer efforts at Oriole Beach Elementary School and as a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She worked for many years at Santa Rosa Orthopaedics before starting her journey with lung cancer, which she battled with amazing courage and grace. Visitation will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church, Gulf Breeze on Monday, October 5th from 5-7 p.m. The rosary will be prayed beforehand at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 6th at 10:00 a.m. with Msgr Luke Hunt as celebrant. Our family wishes to thank all the wonderful friends at the Hope Medical Group and Covenant Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the food bank at St. Ann Catholic Church, 100 Daniel Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561 or Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504.
