MARK LUCAS GINGERY

Mark Lucas Gingery born October 12, 1964 (59) in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Mary Esther resident passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the HCA Fort Walton/Destin Hospital. 

Mark graduated in 1983 from Daleville High School in Daleville, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Mark earned a BS Degree in Computer Science at Troy State University, Troy, Alabama.

Mark had many interests and hobbies to include: Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), blacksmithing, fishing, boating, swimming, and cooking. When he was a youngster, Mark was active on the Ft. Rucker swim team, earning several ribbons and first met his future wife, Caroline. In future years, they reconnected. From youngster to present, Mark loved being in the kitchen creating some delicious dishes. 

In his teen years, Mark was awarded the State of Alabama Heroism Award for swimming several miles for help to save his father who was hanging to their capsized boat. 

Mark was the son of the late Melvin Leroy Gingery and Ann Claudette Lucas Gingery Jackson. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his older brother, Timothy C. Gingery, Paternal Grandparents, Charles K. Gingery and Mabel Victoria Smith Gingery, and Maternal Grandparents, Claude W. Lucas and Annis Dorothy Brandt Lucas.

Mark was a devoted husband and survived by his wife, Caroline McGuire Gingery and her sons, Matt and Ben Callahan, his brother, Matthew J. Gingery (Terri) of Waterville, Ohio, and his sister, Laury A. Gingery of Dothan, Alabama. Mark was a devoted father to his children and OPA to his grandchildren. Three children: Derek Dray Gingery of Slocomb, Alabama, Devon Lucas Gingery (Jessica) of Donaldsonville, Georgia, and Rowan Nicole Gingery of Zillah, Washington. Three grandchildren: Alexis Jade Gingery, Everett Lucas Gingery, and Easton Dennis Gingery. In addition to a sweet and dear Mother-in-Law, Ingrid McGuire, Gulf Breeze, Florida, Mark leaves behind several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
