Marion was born on March 24, 1923 to Lawrence and Mary Spencer of Clarion, IA. Marion married Joyce Arlene Edwards on September 29th, 1946. They operated a farm at Dows, IA until 1959. At that time, they moved to Neillsville, WI. He was one of the founders of the Happy Hollow 4-H Club and served as the leader. He later took over driving a truck from his father and eventually began driving a semi-truck for Schneider Transport, Inc. Schneider honored him with a plaque to recognize one million miles of driving accident-free. After retiring from Schneider Transport, he and his wife Joyce moved to Navarre, FL in 1989 and joined the Navarre United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and used his skills building children furniture for the church school and bookcases for the choir's hymnal books. Marion Spencer is survived by three sons and one daughter, Duane (Grace) Spencer of DeFuniak Springs, FL, James (Tess) Spencer of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Walter (Lorraine) Spencer of Neillsville, WI and Mary (Robert) Redig of Marshfield, WI. He is further survived by one brother, Lyman Spencer of Clarion, IA. Marion and Joyce were blessed with two grandchildren from Duane (Christine Etheridge and Rebecca Keene); three grandchildren from James (Beverly Oesch, Elizabeth McCoy and Jamie Christensen); and six grandchildren from Walter (Jennifer Spencer, Theresa Putnam, Angela Luchterhand, Stephanie Heck, Mark Spencer and Wendy Polzin); and two grandchildren from Mary (Kristen Redig, and Jonathan Redig). There are 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Marion was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Joyce, his second wife Mary Jane, and his older brother Philip Spencer. There will be a time of visitation on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 2 - 3:00 PM at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, Gulf Breeze, FL. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM.
