Mrs. Margaret Lucille McMahan Hames Eure, 95 years, at her home on May 16, 2023.
She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, (although she never had a birth certificate-her mama and daddy told her and the family Bible stated her birthdate was June 13, 1927). Margaret (Daughter, Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend) moved from Texas when she was about 3 years old; she lived in Texas again as a wife and mother. She also resided in Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, spending most of her life in Georgia until she moved to Navarre, Florida, in 2017.
She was the daughter of Ethel Mae Watson McMahan and Grand Arnold McMahan, and had nine sisters and brothers: Vivian, Bill, John, Ed, Bobbie, Paul, Robbie, and Mike preceding her in their heavenly homecoming and sister-Bonnie who resides in Atworth GA.
She married February 14, 1943, Clyde C. Hames, painter, who was in a work-related accident in 1963. Margaret would say…Clyde was kind, caring, generous and a hard worker who provided for his family. Margaret and Clyde had three children: Clyde W. Hames (married to Gladys who is welcoming Margaret into Heaven and married now to Kristi) of Waycross GA; Perry G. Hames (married to Denise) of Barnesville GA; and Mitzi A. Hames Warren (married to N. David Warren) of Navarre FL.
Margaret was proud of her children: Clyde W. Hames who preached his first sermon at the age of 14, worked at Teen Challenge in Massachusetts, in the business arena, and pastored several churches—most recently, The Refinery in Waycross, Georgia; Perry G. Hames, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and started his own industrial coatings company—President of Hames Contracting, Inc.; and Mitzi A. Warren, served in the U.S. Army, and worked Federal Civil Service for over 40 years with the Army, Air Force, and Federal Aviation Administration.
Margaret married Woodrow (lovingly known as Woody) Eure in 1977 and Margaret would say, “He was a good and kind man—and he loved my family!”
After Woody’s passing, Margaret would jokingly say she wasn’t looking for another man unless he was real good looking and loved Jesus more than he loved her.
Margaret loved and appreciated everyone who came into her life especially her grand and great grandchildren and their families: Elizabeth (Trey and DC), Billy (Heidi, Julian, Ainsley, Nathan, Ethan), Tamra (Justin, Morgan), Casey, Josh (Peggy Jo, Cheyenne, Abi), Bethany (Michael, Julia, Mikey, JJ, Ella), Victoria, Chad, Bryon (Rachael), Kip, Bronz, Lane; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Margaret also would say, “All my friends like Martha, Mildred, Reba, Betty and so many others have gone on to Heaven and left me—I sure do miss them but I’m in no hurry to get there until my work and fun here on Earth is done.”
