Margaret Eckart

Margaret F. Eckart, 84, of Gulf Breeze, Florida passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

Margaret was born on August 9, 1933 in Nashville, Tennessee and attended Central High School in Davidson County, Tennessee graduating with the class of 1951. She continued her education at Vanderbilt University before transferring to Auburn University where she achieved her Bachelors of Science, majoring in a rigorous pre-med curriculum.

In 1956 she married Raymond Eckart, with whom she would remain a devoted wife to for 49 years, until his death in 2005.
Ray and Margaret moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida in June 1959 to begin their lives together on the coast and start their family.
Margaret was a committed and valued staff member of Creekside Psychiatric for over 25 years.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her father, Russell Freeland; mother, Hilda Thornton Chandler and brother, Robert Chandler.
She is survived by daughters, Karen Dennis ( Richard ) of Gulf Breeze ; Deborah Franklin ( Steve ) of Round Rock, Texas ; and Melissa Eckart ( Joe ) of Seabrook, Texas ; son David Eckart ( Debra ) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida ; sisters Susan Bayliss ( Michael ) of Birmingham, Alabama; and Ellen Ingram of Franklin, Tennessee ; brothers Charles Freeland of Viera, Florida and Larry Freeland ( Connie ) of Miami, Florida ; grandchildren Stephen Baughn ( Laura ) of Melbourne, Florida; Brian Baughn of Gulf Breeze ; Jonathon Hanline (Trea ) of Niceville, Florida ; Allison Hanline of Tallahassee, Florida; Kaylee Peters (Corey ) of Arlington, Texas; Eric Franklin of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Samantha Schiaffino of Seabrook, Texas. Margaret is also survived by numerous loving great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation for friends and family will begin at 2:30 PM, Saturday December 2, 2017 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. The service will follow at 3:30 PM in the funeral home chapel with Michael Bayliss serving as officiant.
Inurnment will take place next to her husband at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, Alabama.
