Margaret "Maggie" Brewton of Gulf Breeze died peacefully on Saturday, August 22 at the age of 91. Maggie was born and raised in Meridian, Mississippi. She moved to Washington DC to work at the Pentagon routing soldiers by railroad during WWII. For many years Maggie lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Maggie moved to her beloved Gulf Breeze in 1961 since she loved the beach and had many friends in Gulf Breeze, Maggie worked until her retirement from the State Division of Worker's Compensation. She actively participated and enjoyed the friendships and charitable works of her Eastern Star Chapter. She always had Chihuahuas and Bull Terriers, which she lovingly called "her girls". Maggie also enjoyed reading and learning about nature. Never losing her heritage from Mississippi, Maggie was known for her cornbread and black-eyed peas. Over the last several years, and in deteriorating health, Maggie (together with "her girls") was well cared for by her daughter, Sharon, and son-in-law, Charles Schuster . Maggie is survived by three daughters, three grandsons and six great-grandchildren. Dorothy Faye Denton of Rockville, Maryland and her son Stephen Bonava of Biloxi. Linda Karen Underwood (husband Gene) of Lancaster, Virginia and her sons George Ward III (wife Michele) and Christopher Ward (wife Dawn) both of Stafford, Virginia. Sharon Kathleen Schuster (husband Charles) of Gulf Breeze. Maggie is with God now, but she will be missed. If there are Boston Bull Terriers in Heaven, one has already found her lap. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Humane Society or the ASPCA. Graveside service will be held at Bayview Memorial Park on Saturday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze.
